Software-defined storage
Software-defined storage is part of a larger software-defined data center trend. Software-defined architecture places an emphasis on services rather than the hardware. Software-defined storage can be used to virtualize x86 servers or other storage hardware, or manage multiple storage systems. It is a key piece of hyper-converged and other server-based storage architectures.
