The companies added that a dedicated Accenture team providing consulting and integration services would join NetApp's professional services organization. Under the agreements, Accenture and NetApp will develop and deliver solutions for data center optimization and transformation, cloud solution implementation, virtual desktop implementation, enterprise resource planning (ERP) application optimization, and business application ROI enhancements via infrastructure virtualization and efficiency.
Apple support next in line for Quantum's StorNext
Quantum Corp. said it plans to expand its StorNext file system with a set of products for Apple customers. As part of those plans, Quantum said it has co-developed a new LAN client for StorNext with file management provider Group Logic. The Group Logic LAN Client for StorNext will give desktop clients running the Mac OS X platform native access via a LAN to StorNext's high-performance shared file and archiving system.
Vision Solutions launches Double-Take apps for AIX
Vision Solutions Inc. has launched Double-Take Availability and Double-Take RecoverNow for AIX 3.6. Double-Take Availability (combining products formerly known as EchoCluster and EchoStream for AIX) is a disaster recovery application for IBM Power Systems running AIX. Its enhancements include support for IBM AIX v7 environments and the ability to work in environments running IBM's Live Partition Mobility. Double-Take RecoverNow (formerly EchoStream) is a continuous data protection (CDP) application.
SandForce claims 1 million solid-state drive shipments
SandForce Inc. said it shipped more than 1 million of its SF-1500 and SF-1200 SSD Processors last year. SandForce recently launched the SF-2000 SSD Processor family that supports 6 Gbps SATA solid-state drive (SSD) technology.
Medical school picks Avere for genome sequencing
Mount Sinai School of Medicine has implemented Avere Systems Inc.'s FXT Series with solid-state drives (SSDs) and hard drives to reduce job processing times of I/O-intensive research. The medical school will use FXT systems for genetic and genome sequencing projects that involve massive datasets needed to handle the analysis of hundreds of millions of genomic sequences.
DataDirect Networks adds new chief of strategy
Storage array vendor DataDirect Networks (DDN) has appointed Jean-Luc Chatelain, former HP Fellow and Information Optimization chief technology officer, as its head of strategy and technology. Chatelain will lead the expansion of DDN's product portfolio.
