Storage Roundup: Atempo betas HyperStream Server module for block-level dedupe, NetEx extends VMware

Atempo enters beta with HyperStream data deduplication module for Time Navigator; NetEx extends VMware support; HP qualifies ATTO HBAs for EVA storage systems; and more.

This week's storage news:

Atempo Inc. introduced the Atempo HyperStream Server, a new module for Time Navigator with block-level data deduplication...

The HyperStream Server is a stream-oriented storage service that allows backup data to be sent to a storage server across high- and low-bandwidth connections while performing block-level dedupe across and within the streams.

By identifying identical blocks of data on multiple systems and only backing up the changed blocks, the module eliminates data redundancy and reduces the amount of storage and the network bandwidth required. HyperStream Server also supports block-level replication from one unit to another over local- or wide-area network connections. HyperStream Server is entering beta tests and Atempo said it will be generally available in August.

NetEx extends support for VMware vCenter

NetEx qualified the VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager on its HyperIP for VMware WAN optimization software, extending its support for the VMware virtual environments.
