PMC-Sierra RoCs Hewlett-Packard servers

Hewlett-Packard picks PMC-Sierra, and Fujitsu chooses LSI Engenio for SAS devices; Sanrad supports Microsoft's Hyper-V.

PMC-Sierra Inc. said Hewlett-Packard (HP) Co. is shipping its RAID-on-Chip (RoC) on HP's Smart Array RAID controller cards.

PMC-Sierra's PM8011 SRC 8x6G is an eight-port, 6 Gbps SAS device that can be used on HP's ProLiant DL385 G5p and DL580 G5 servers. The device is also PCI Express 2.0 compliant, which doubles the host bus interface bandwidth to 5 Gpbs.

Fujitsu picks LSI Engenio SAS enclosure

LSI Corp. said Fujitsu is using the LSI Engenio DE5300 2.5-inch SAS enclosure for its high-end server platform. The DE5300 is a 2u, 19-inch, rack-mountable drive enclosure that supports up to 20 2.5-inch small form factor SAS drives for a maximum capacity of 2.9 TB in an enclosure.

Sanrad supports Microsoft's Hyper-V

Sanrad Inc. rolled out Hyper-V-STOR, a campus cluster appliance for the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 failover cluster with Hyper-V. STOR supports two remote locations with redundant paths to servers for disaster recovery.

Red Hat certifies QLogic CNAs

QLogic Corp. said Red Hat Inc. has qualified its 8 Gbps Fibre Channel (FC), iSCSI and 10 Gbit enhanced Ethernet converged network adapters (CNAs) with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3. Red Hat will include drivers for the QLogic CNAs in its Linux 5.3 distribution.

Novell launches Storage Manager 2.5

The latest version of Novell Inc.'s Storage Manager includes automated management tasks based on policies and identities, a redesigned interface and greater Linux support.
