Imation launches SSD drives

Imation offers Mtron's solid-state flash disk drives in two products, one aimed at consumers and another being marketed to businesses.

Imation launches solid-state disk drive products
Imation began shipping two flash-based solid state drive (SSD) products this week, based on a partnership with South Korean SSD manufacturing company Mtron. Imation's new SSD portfolio includes the MOBI 3000 series for consumers and the PRO 7000 for enterprise, corporate and IT infrastructure applications. The list prices are $699.99 for the MOBI 3000 and $1,159.99 for the PRO 7000.

Reports also circulated in the industry this week that Intel is planning new SSD offerings.

Brocade and BlueArc signed a reseller agreement in which BlueArc will resell the Brocade StorageX file virtualization and management software. BlueArc will offer the software in bundles with its Titan 3000 NAS head.

Panasas certifies CD-adapco
Panasas entered into a strategic alliance with CD-adapco by certifying its STAR-CD and STAR-CCM+ Computational Fluid Dynamics software with Panasas ActiveStor. CD-adapco has a parallel I/O scheme in STAR-CD v3.2 that integrates with the Panasas PanFS parallel file system.

Moose Logic packages Xen with DataCore storage virtualization
Moose Logic will package DataCore storage virtualization software with Citrix's Xen server virtualization .

Hifn and Freescale partner on low-power storage products
Hifn forged a technology development partnership with Freescale Semiconductor that will blend Hifn's Applied Services Processors and card-level products with Freescale's embedded processors. The goal of the partnership will be to lower power draws in storage products.
