EMC announced two new products in its Insignia line aimed at SMBs.

EMC extends Insignia SMB line
EMC Corp. announced that it has added e-mail and disk-to-disk backup to the Insignia line for small and midsized businesses (SMB). The EMC Insignia Solution for Exchange and EMC Insignia Solution for Data Protection both use the new EMC Clariion AX150 and AX150i for disk hardware.

The Exchange product includes the ability to automate Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 migration and the ability to restore individual e-mail messages, a mailbox or the entire server. The product combines the Clariion AX150 and AX150i, EMC Storage Administrator for Exchange SMB Edition software, and EMC Retrospect for Windows backup and recovery software. The disk-to-disk product combines Retrospect for Windows backup and recovery software with the AX150 and AX150i.

Scentric comes out of stealth with classification
Scentric announced it is coming out of stealth/beta testing mode with its Scentric Destiny product, which classifies disparate types of data, including files, e-mails and databases in one repository. Scentric's announcement today coincides with the launch of its corporate identity and Web site, following the recent expansion of its Series A funding round to $10.4 million from HIG Ventures, Valhalla Partners, Imlay Investments and ATDC.

U.S. Army does SRM with Northern
Windows-based storage resource management (SRM) software Northern announces that the Army Accessions Command at Fort Knox, Ky., has selected Northern Storage Suite. Northern Storage Suite 2005 offers NAS support, is cluster aware, expands storage self-management through an enhanced end-user portal, simplifies multi-server configuration and more.

Double-Take tweaks virtual replication
Double-Take Software announced its third release in its "virtualization strategy," with replication and failover software designed to run natively on VMware's ESX server. In the past few months, Double-Take has announced Double-Take for Virtual Systems. Last week the company announced interoperability with VMware.

Pillar partners with Brocade, McData
Pillar Data Systems announced agreements with Brocade and McData that will allow Pillar to resell storage networking products from both vendors with its Pillar Axiom storage systems. With the partnerships, Pillar can market and install its Axiom arrays as a SAN package.

Publisher consolidates with Brocade routers
Nihon Keizai Shimbun Inc. (Nikkei), a publisher of business news and information based in Japan, is storing its mission-critical data using SilkWorm multi-protocol routers from Brocade. The Tokyo-based firm is consolidating multiple Brocade SANs with the routers.

OnStor introduces services
OnStor announced the formation of the OnStor Professional Services team to offer systems integration, storage planning and data migration services to OnStor enterprise NAS customers.

CA names COO
CA Inc. announced that Michael J. Christenson has been elected as CA's new chief operating officer. He replaces Jeff Clarke who is leaving the company to assume the position of president and CEO of the Travel Distribution Services division of Cendant Corp. Christenson joined CA in February 2005, having retired in 2004 from Citigroup Global Markets Inc. after a 23-year career as an investment banker.

Cadence, Teranetics collaborate on 10-GigE
Cadence Design Systems Inc. and Teranetics Inc. announced a design collaboration for implementation of Teranetics' 10-Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) chips using Cadence's X Architecture, which enables diagonal networking routes.

Revivio signs first Euro reseller
Revivio Inc. announced it has signed its first European channel partner agreement with U.K.-based IS Solutions. Under terms of the agreement, IS Solutions will resell Revivio's entire family of continuous protection systems, as well as its recently announced application integration suite software to its customers.
