Storage Clips: Mimosa supports Exchange 5.5

The new support for an older version of Exchange can speed the migration process to Exchange 2000 and 2003.

Mimosa supports Exchange 5.5
Mimosa Systems Inc. announced that its e-mail archiving product, NearPoint for Microsoft Exchange Server, will support Exchange Server 5.5 so that users can migrate data from the older version of Exchange to Exchange 2000 Server or Exchange Server 2003, an otherwise lengthy process that has the potential for data loss. With the new version of Nearpoint, administrators can empty Exchange Server 5.5 mailboxes prior to migrating to newer versions of Exchange, which speeds the migration process.

Exabyte introduces SMB LTO
Exabyte Corp. introduced the Magnum 224 LTO (Ultrium) tape library, aimed at small and midsized businesses (SMB) and remote/branch offices. The library is available in two drive configurations: a single LTO-2 half-height drive and empty bay for a second LTO-2 drive; or with a single LTO-3 drive. With a single drive, the library will hold 4.8 terabyte (TB) capacity with speeds of 172 GB per hour; expandable with the addition of another drive to 19.2 TB capacity and 576 GB per hour. Pricing starts at $4,600 for the base configuration with one LTO-2 drive and one 12-cartridge magazine. An LTO-3 1x12 version is available for $6,000. Exabyte is also throwing in an on-site service warranty for $450 and an upgrade from one to two LTO-2 drives is available for $2,358.

Through an OEM agreement, Exabyte is now shipping the Magnum 224 to Fujitsu Siemens Computer, which is selling it as the FibreCAT TX24 in the Europe, Middle East and Africa market.

Ibrix joins IBM partner program
Ibrix Inc. announced membership in IBM's ServerProven and TotalStorage Proven programs. Ibrix earned membership by demonstrating that its file system has been implemented in customer environments running IBM systems and IBM system storage products.
