Softek will sell EMC's catalog management tool for mainframes; Maxtor reports net loss of $70M; RAID Inc. targets education with affordable storage.

Softek to resell EMC mainframe software
EMC Corp. and storage management software company Softek have formed a reseller relationship where Softek will sell EMC mainframe storage management and maintenance software in North America and Europe. Softek will sell EMC's leading software for OS/390 and z/OS environments including: EMC Catalog Solution, a catalog management tool that maintains the health of OS/390 and z/OS directory catalogs; EMC Performance Essential, a tuning and optimization tool that reduces batch processing times; and EMC VSAM Assist, a management tool that speeds up backup and recovery processes.

Maxtor reports net loss of $70M
Maxtor Corp. announced its financial results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ending Dec. 25, 2004. Revenue for the quarter was $1.031 billion. The company reported a net loss on a GAAP basis in the fourth quarter of 2004 of $70.2 million, or -28 cents per share.

RAID Inc. targets education with affordable storage
RAID Inc. provides affordable storage products to the educational institutions, an industry that has limited IT resources but growing storage demands. RAID Inc.'s Phoenix Series disk subsystem addresses this problem with enterprise-level features that include the following: managed snapshot, remote replication, virtualization, intelligent capacity management and efficient data migration.

The Phoenix Series is designed with no single point of failure and is available in SATA, Fibre Channel or tiered disks with host interface options in Fibre Channel and iSCSI. The system can be scaled from 500 GB to 94.5 terabytes.
