Atto adds CommVault, Dantz software to VTL
ATTO Technology Inc., a provider of storage connectivity and infrastructure products, announced that the ATTO Diamond Virtual Tape (VT-Class) storage array has been certified compatible with backup software vendors, CommVault Systems, Inc. and Dantz Development Corp. The ATTO Diamond VT is a virtual tape device that can be integrated into an existing CommVault or Dantz backup environment, and is recognized by CommVault's Galaxy and Dantz's Retrospect applications as a traditional tape drive or tape library.

LightSand unveils SAN gateway for SMBs
LightSand, a storage connectivity supplier, has announced the S-8100 SAN Gateway series for small to medium-sized businesses. These new gateways support interconnection of Fibre Channel and FICON storage systems over existing fiber-optic infrastructure across a campus, metropolitan area or nationwide.

EqualLogic cashes in EqualLogic Inc., provider of iSCSI-based storage products announced that Ryan Beck & Co., a full-service investment banking and brokerage firm based in the New York metropolitan area, is using EqualLogics's PS100E storage arrays to consolidate, manage and protect company-wide business-critical data.

PolyServe cluster file system wins award
CASPUR, an inter-university computing consortium based in Rome, Italy, evaluated five Linux cluster file system (CFS) products to determine the best solution for its deployment of a new e-mail service for approximately 800,000 concurrent users. After conducting two performance benchmarks of the five competing products, CASPUR selected PolyServe Matrix Server to power a messaging cluster for its huge base of e-mail users. A CFS allows multiple servers to share applications, files and data while controlling access to stored data and maintaining data integrity.
