Storage Clips: StorageTek to resell Cisco switches

StorageTek to resell Cisco switches
Storage Technology Corporation (StorageTek) announced that it will resell the Cisco MDS 9000 family of multilayer intelligent directors and fabric switches, and related SMARTnet services and support. The Cisco offerings are available to users worldwide as part of StorageTek's portfolio of storage networking products and services. In addition, Cisco has been named to StorageTek's TekSelect partner program.

Emulex HBAs certified by HP
Emulex Corp. announced that its LightPulse LP10000 and dual channel LP10000DC Fibre Channel HBAs have been certified by HP for use in both the HP-UX 11i v1 (on HP 9000 PA-RISC based platforms) and HP-UX 11i v2 (on HP integrity platforms) operating systems. HP-UX 11i v2 is the newest version of HP-UX 11i.

Apple Ships Xsan SAN file system
Apple announced it has begun shipping Xsan, an enterprise-class SAN file system priced at $999 per client and per server. Xsan is aimed at users who require scalable, high-speed access to centralized shared data for storage consolidation and workflow in video post production, data center, broadcast and high performance computing environments.

UltraBac updates backup and DR software
UltraBac Software released UltraBac version 8.0, backup and disaster recovery software. Major new features include: UltraCopy for creating duplicate media for off-site storage, barcode media pool support, differential image backup and native 64-bit support for both Intel and AMD processors. The company says UltraCopy has two major benefits. The first is to allow duplication of tape- or disk-based backups to media for off-site removal and storage. The second benefit is that it enables the consolidation of multiple disk or tape backups to virtually any other removable storage medium.
