Solid State Storage Performance Test Specification (SSS PTS)

Solid State Storage Performance Test Specification (SSS PTS) is a set of procedures for evaluating the performance of NAND-based solid state storage (SSS).

The SSS PTS was developed by SNIA with representatives of more than 40 solid state drive (SSD) and storage system companies including  Intel, IBM and Seagate.  There are actually two test specifications, one for enterprise solid state storage and one for client (consumer) solid state storage. Both tests provide a standard methodology, common terminology and testing environment for measuring the performance of solid state drives. The tests also accommodate the ways solid state is different from other storage media by including a pre-conditioning component and only taking measurements when the device has reached a steady state.
