Panasas is a scale-out NAS (network-attached storage) vendor that produces hardware and software for demanding technical and enterprise environments.
Pnasas’ main offering is its ActiveStor scale-out NAS appliance product line and associated software.
Features integrated in ActiveStor include:
- A hybrid flash storage array containing a mix of flash solid state drives and hard disk drives.
- Panasas’ PanFS parallel file system, which creates a shared storage pool for support of multiple, high-demand workflows and applications.
- DirectFlow and NFS v3 protocols for Linux and Unix clients and SMB for Windows clients.
- Clustered storage devices to provide scale-out storage.
Garth Gibson and William Courtright founded Panasas in 1999. Corporate headquarters are in Sunnyvale, California.
