What kinds of processors are used in NAS?
The type of processor will vary depending upon the implementation of NAS and the underlying NAS operating system and software. While most any server can be configured as a NAS (NFS and CIFS) file server, typically dedicated NAS filers and appliances are based upon standard processors like those from Intel. NAS filers that use general purpose processors from Intel and AMD may also use specialized processors and ASICs to support special functions.
