HP StorageApps sv3000 SAN data security

Date Published:
01 JUN 2002
About the White Paper:
Maintaining the security and integrity of data within a storage area network (SAN) environment is a critical business need. Without some measure of security, hosts would be able to view and access all data within the environment. This can lead to data corruption if different host operating systems, particularly Windows(R), attach to a particular disk and modify its contents in a non-cooperative way.

The available methods to implement data security in a SAN can be categorized as host-based LUN masking, storage system based LUN security or network (switch)-based security. This white paper includes an overview of these SAN security solutions and the environments in which they are most appropriate.

This white paper describes how the HP StorageApps sv3000 provides network level security for a SAN environment. (June 2002)
