Tip

Standardizing LUN addresses for gatekeeper/command devices

Raid systems can be (normally) administered through a Fibre Channel via a SCSI address (Tid and LUN). This special device is called a "gatekeeper" on EMC and "command device" on HDS.

Standardise the LUN address for this device to be the same for all hosts in your shop. Make this LUN address nice and high eg. x'77' (119dec). Now you will be more likely to notice that it is a special device and leave it alone.
