InfiniBand wants to be a contender and this may be the year that InfiniBand finally gets off the drawing board and into IT departments.
One event that might help put it all into perspective is the upcoming InfiniBand solutions Conference, slated for April 9-11 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco. This conference will bring together leaders in InfiniBand development and IT managers from across the country.
The multi-company sponsored conference is expected to feature a solutions focused agenda including a full-day of training for IT managers interested in InfiniBand architecture. In addition, a day of panels hosted by industry experts and featuring panelists from every segment of the InfiniBand development and user communities. The panels will highlight much of the advances taking place in the development community. More than thirty member companies of the InfiniBand Trade Association are also expected to exhibit their InfiniBand product development plans in the event's showcase arena.
Vernon Turner, vice president for commercial systems and servers at IDC, Framingham, Mass., says the event represents a milestone for the InfiniBand industry since it continues to demonstrate the participants' enthusiasm to develop infrastructure based products. "Finally, IT executives can start to feel assured that they should be looking to add InfiniBand-based projects into their 2003 strategic plans," he said.
