IBM optical library caching (3995 C68)
Dex Watson

If your optical library drives are jumping out of the box, consider caching read/write activity within an IBM SHARK (2105 F20). Two eight-pack DDMs with (9)21gb LUNS did the trick using both clusters. No more drive thrashing, and the outside of the optical box cache works great. Drive activity is now comparatively nill. Of course, the AIX Administrator used the LUNs to create the necessary harddisks for the optical box to use, but that's no big deal.
