Hewlett-Packard and Hitachi Ltd. announced the intent to extent their joint technology and original equipment manufacturer agreements for another three years. The original agreements, signed in May 1999, allowed HP to combine Hitachi Data Systems' core array technology with HP's open system software and solutions to create the HP SureStore XP disk array family.
Evaluator Group comments
The Hitachi/HP relationship has been very successful, with sales of the HP SureStore XP disk array family exceeding $1 billion. The extension of this relationship is good news for HP's customers. With the XP disk array family, HP has an excellent product to address the requirements of its customers for a high-end enterprise storage subsystem.
