SearchStorage.com executive editor Ellen O’Brien and senior news director Dave Raffo talk about the first data storage acquisition of 2013 in this week’s edition of Storage Radio. The deal between Imation Corp. and Nexsan Corp. is part of a strategy Imation said will steer the firm into cutting-edge storage technologies and away from its traditional tape business.
Nexsan had been focused on going public, according to company executives, but the chilly IPO market cooled its prospects. Last year many of the top data storage headlines centered on flash technology news, and Raffo predicted this trend will continue as the merger and acquisition market heats up. Among the other top storage trends in 2013 are server-based flash cache, cloud-based file sharing and cloud-based disaster recovery.
