Sepaton gets in with government reseller Sepaton Inc. announced that Global Technical Systems (GTS) will resell its S2100 line of virtual tape library products as an authorized General Services Administration Federal Supply Schedule participant. GTS specializes in selling SANs to government agencies. Maxxan customer trades three SANs for one Maxxan Systems Inc. announced that the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA) has implemented the Maxxan MXV500 Secure Storage Application Platform as the foundation of a new consolidated storage architecture. Previously, KDLA had a collection of servers on three different SANs with some information residing off the SAN altogether. Backup jobs were failing as the overall system struggled to keep up with a 25% annual growth rate of its stored information. Storage players make for Mac Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC) announced the release of a RAID product for Apple Computer's high-end PowerMac G5 Quad workstation. The new Sidecar external RAID product includes AMCC's 3ware StorSwitch architecture, a shared storage infrastructure optimized for high-bandwidth applications . Meanwhile, Maxtor Corp. announced that it will be shipping its Maxtor Shared Storage Plus solution with Mac OS X version 10.4 "Tiger" support in February 2006. Sony tape supports SATA Sony Electronics announced that its Advanced Intelligent Tape Turbo drives will support the SATA interface, eliminating the need for SCSI or Fibre Channel adapters in server-attached configurations.
Western Scientific integrates 10 GigE Sun ships QLogic 4 Gbit HBA QLogic Corp. announced that its enterprise class 4 Gbit SANblade Pro Fibre Channel PCI Express and PCI-X 2.0 host bus adapters (HBA) are now available from Sun Microsystems. The QLogic SANblade Pro HBAs connect both Sun UltraSPARC and AMD Opteron processor-based Sun Fire servers to Sun StorEdge storage systems in Sun Solaris, Windows and Linux OS environments. Tandberg signs distributor Tandberg Data announced that it has entered into an agreement with D&H Distributing to distribute Tandberg Data's StorageLoader, InteliStor and LTO tape drive product lines. All hardware models covered by the agreement are now in stock and available for D&H to ship. |
