Decru, Peak Data U.S.A. partner for mainframe tape encryption
Storage security company, Decru Inc., (acquired by Network Appliance Inc.) and Peak Data, U.S.A., distributor of the Fujitsu-Siemens CentricStor Virtual Tape System, have announced an integrated product for producing encrypted tapes from mainframe computer data. Available immediately, the system provides an answer to the problem of consolidating backups from open systems and mainframe environments, while ensuring the security of all data on backup media.
Sierra Logic ships one millionth SATA port
Sierra Logic, a supplier of silicon storage products, announced that it shipped its one millionth SATA port this month. "This kind of growth is one of many indicators that SATA storage is now generally accepted as mainstream, both for nearline and, increasingly, for some primary storage applications," said Tom Curlin, managing director, RBC Capital Markets.
QLogic ships 20,000th blade switch
QLogic Corp. announced the company shipped it's 20,000th switch into the fast growing blade server market. According to IDC, blade server embedded switches will be the largest Fibre Channel (FC) switch market in terms of ports shipped by 2009, and QLogic was No. 1 in market share for blade server embedded FC switches in both ports shipped and revenue in calendar year 2004. "Infrastructure consolidation delivers huge returns on investment,'' said Jesse Parker, vice president of marketing for QLogic Switch Products Group. "Customers are telling us that server blades with embedded SANs make it easy to consolidate servers and storage."
