Mainframe users get cheaper storage Bus-Tech and Diligent Technologies have integrated their products to provide open systems disk backup for mainframe users. Diligent has certified its Virtual Tape Facility Mainframe with Bus-Tech's zDASD 3990 Controller. PyX merges with SBE SBE Inc. announced that it has signed a definitive merger agreement to acquire iSCSI software company PyX Technologies Inc. PyX's iSCSI products provide a software protocol that transports data to and from networked storage with error recovery and multi-path capabilities previously only available in Fibre Channel architectures, the company said. PyX's iSCSI products are capable of interfacing with SATA, SCSI, Fibre Channel, PATA and other storage devices. Iomega boosts NAS line Iomega Corp. announced three new storage products: the Iomega NAS 200d with a REV drive built in , the Iomega NAS 300r server and the internal Iomega REV 35 GB SATA Drive. The Iomega NAS 200d Series 320 GB has a list price of $1,399 for the base model, $1,899 with a REV drive built in and $2,099 with Microsoft Windows Print Server option. The Iomega NAS 200d Series 480GB has a list price of $1,999 and $2,599 with Microsoft Windows Print Server option. The Iomega NAS 200d Series 750 GB with Microsoft Windows Print Server has a list price of $3,199. Asaca joins NAS throng DVD library manufacturer, Asaca Inc. has joined the NAS party with an Intel-based server with dual disk drives, 2 GB memory, SCSI interface, optional Fibre Channel, dual power supplies and dual 10/100/1000BaseT network interfaces. The TeraCart NAS box can be integrated to support Asaca's line of TeraCart AM DVD libraries, as well as its newest line of TeraCart PD libraries. Exabyte supports VARs Exabyte Corp. announced a new program to help VARs establish a tape automation practice. The program, which includes opportunity analysis, technical training and sales support -- is designed to help Exabyte's resellers to sell automated backup and restore products to SMBs. IVivity releases 10Gbps chip IVivity Inc. announced the availability of the iDiSX 2000-10, a 10 Gbps intelligent storage processor. The iDiSX 2000-10 is specialized storage that allows system OEMs to build storage systems with up to 10 Gbps wire-speed performance. The product is currently available for OEMs and developers of IP and multi-protocol storage systems, including switches, RAID controllers, appliances and storage blades. ILumin adds message level support E-mail management software provider, iLumin Software Services, has released Assentor Enterprise 3.4, which includes the ability to control how a single message is stored, where the message is stored and for how long based on a number of attributes, including line of business or organizational hierarchy. Many firms have retention policies that are very different across their lines of business or departments. For example, firms have instituted policies that require the retention of their finance department e-mails for seven years on WORM media to support their Sarbanes-Oxley initiatives. Retention policies for other departments are often quite shorter in duration and require less expensive storage platforms. OuterBay archives SAP OuterBay Technologies Inc. announced the availability of its integrated ILM product for SAP Business Intelligence, a component of the SAP NetWeaver platform. The product provides access to archived data in SAP Business Information Warehouse.
