Storage Clips: VoIP service provider picks 3Par

VoIP service provider picks 3Par
3PAR announced that Cbeyond Communications, a VoIP service provider, has purchased two 3PAR InServ storage servers for its operational support systems, and its test and development environment. The Atlanta-based firm, which serves over 15,000 businesses in major metropolitan areas, selected 3PAR over other storage vendors based on performance, scalability, simplicity and unmatched cost effectiveness. Cbeyond serves customers in Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, Houston and Chicago, and delivers an integrated product that offers high-speed T1 Internet access, local and long distance voice services, Web hosting, e-mail, conference calling and VPN.


Signiant doubles revenue in 2004
Signiant Inc., a wide area remote data management provider, announced record revenues for the year ending Dec. 31, 2004. Signiant claims more it than doubled revenues as a result of new customers and deployments of its technology in the existing customer base. Signiant's software allows companies to manage and control remote data for applications such as consolidating disk-to-disk backup, centralizing data archival, automating distribution to branch locations and moving data to a distant remote site for disaster recovery.


QLogic profit, revenue up in Q3
QLogic Corp. announced its third-quarter financial results for the period ending Dec. 26, 2004. Non-GAAP net income for the third quarter of fiscal 2005 was $45.1 million, or 48 cents per share and increased 19% from the $37.9 million, or 39 cents per share reported in the third quarter of last year. As for quarter over quarter results, non-GAAP net income for the third quarter of fiscal 2005 increased 20% sequentially from the $37.7 million, or 40 cents per share, reported for the second quarter of fiscal 2005. During the first nine months of fiscal 2005, the company's non-GAAP net income was $116.8 million, or $1.25 per share, an increase of 8% from the $107.7 million, or $1.12 per share reported last year. QLogic's net revenue for the third quarter of fiscal 2005 was a record $150.3 million and increased 10% from the $137.1 million reported in the comparable quarter last year.


BakBone appoints R&D officer and CTO
BakBone Software, Inc., a provider of data protection software, announced that it has appointed Douglas Spencer to the position of vice president of research and development. Spencer succeeds Fabrice Helliker, who has been appointed to the newly created position of chief technology officer, effective immediately. Reporting directly to Jim Johnson, president and CEO, Helliker and Spencer will work collaboratively on BakBone's vision of matching its technical expertise with software research and product development.
