Seagate's SAS drives ready for OEMs
Disk drive vendor Seagate Technology announced this week that its Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) drives are being sampled by OEMs. This news comes on the heels of Seagate's recent successful completion of SAS interoperability testing at the third SCSI Trade Association SAS Plugfest at the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Laboratory. Seagate Savvio 10K.1 and Cheetah 15K.4 drives were used at the Plugfest, which helped reinforce the industry's readiness to deliver SAS solutions to the market.

Breece Hill selects new distributor
Breece Hill LLC, a provider of information storage and retrieval for small to midsize businesses, announced this week that Access Distribution will begin distributing its company's tape automation and integrated information storage products and will help in recruitment of new partners. Access Distribution will offer the following Breece Hill products: Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape (D2D2T), data protection software and tape libraries to resellers based in the U.S. and Canada.

Intransa to show IP product at supercomputing demo
Intransa, provider of information storage over IP, announced it has been chosen to provide its IP-based modular storage area network (SAN) product to a first-ever demonstration at Supercomputing 2004, showcasing multiple servers accessing the same data in parallel -- via a clustered file system -- spread out across a traditional Fibre Channel SAN and an IP-based SAN in the same infrastructure. The demonstration is known as Blockbuster, engineered by volunteers from Sandia and Lawrence Livermore National Labs, the nation's premier defense research facility.

Iron Mountain taps new president
Records management company Iron Mountain Inc. announced this week the appointment of Connected CEO Bob Brennan to the newly created post of President, North America. The selection follows an independent search for the position, and the recent acquisition of Connected Corporation. Brennan will maintain his current responsibilities as CEO of Connected until the integration of the business is complete. In his new role, Brennan will be in charge of Iron Mountain's two largest business units in North America: records management and off-site data protection.
