DAFS, virtualization, SAN/NAS convergence. You have heard all of the NAS buzz words, but what is the skinny on when and if these technologies will come to bear? Last month Evaluator Group partner Randy Kerns offered his vision for the NAS market in 2002 (click for event transcript). During the event, Randy got the chance to take many of the attendee's questions -- but some were left unanswered -- so we continued the asking for you.What does NAS virtualization look like right now?

Is there any interest in NAS virtualization or allowing file systems to span filers?
Are businesses really in a mode where they are willing to try new architectural solutions to NAS and SAN problems, or are most simply going to do more of the same?
What do you feel about NAS appliance in the database market?
Speaking of DAFS, when do you see DAFS making a widespread entry to the market?

What are the TCO benefits of NAS vs. DAS?
Part of the challenge of NAS implementation in large shops is integrating it to the existing DR service. In fact can't it become a huge cost burden to support a specialized DR solution just for a NAS device(s)?
