Linux clusters meet storage over IP

DataDirect Networks Inc., is out to expand Linux-enabled networks. The company, headquartered in Chatsworth, Calif., announced that its SAN DataDirector is now compatible with Cisco's 5420 iSCSI Fibre Channel to Ethernet router. SANsymphony times two

DataCore Software Inc., Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., claims to have doubled the I/O performance of its SANsymphony virtual storage platform through participation in Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based QLogic Corp.'s 2Gb Developers' Consortium. 'Powered by DataCore' solutions can now transparently bridge access from 2Gbps host bus adapters (HBAs) to existing 1Gbps storage arrays. Current DataCore customers can take advantage of the higher QLogic 2Gb throughput with an upgrade to the SANsymphony 4.0 platform. The upgrade gives integrators a performance boost by adding QL2300 HBAs to existing DataCore Storage Domain Servers (SDS).

Extending library hours

OTG Software Inc., Rockville, MD., announced support for Plasmon's latest range of DVD-R/DVD-RAM libraries. OTG's DiskXtender 2000, VideoXtender and ArchiveXtender software products are now certified for use with the Plasmon D-Series and G-Series libraries. OTG's software can aggregate multiple Plasmon libraries so they appear to users and applications as a single drive letter, minimizing complexity. Plasmon's LTO Ultrium product family incorporates its automation technology with IBM's Ultrium tape drives for SAN and NAS connectivity. OTG has certified the LTO 100.6 with DiskXtender 2000 and will support users of Plasmon's libraries functioning in both LAN and SAN environments.
