Final CIM Schema available for review

The Distributed Management Task Force Inc. (DMTF), San Jose, Calif., announced the release of the final version of the Common Information Model (CIM) Schema Version 2, Release 5. The schema was formally introduced at DMTF's eighth annual Developers' Conference in San Jose, Calif., and is available for review at the DMTF Web site, which was recently re-launched. Supporting DMTF's developing Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) schemas for Directory Enabled Networks (DEN), DMTF has released preliminary versions of three information models that have been mapped to LDAP: Core, Physical and User. The alignment of CIM v2.5 and LDAP allows for improved integration throughout a network, which translates to better management of devices and users across an enterprise-wide system, according to the DMTF. The Core model serves as the basis for all CIM schemas, and represents the most fundamental management of network objects and relationships.
