DataCore lists partners for virtualization
DataCore Software, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., revealed a line-up of technical partners who have joined the DataCore SANvantage Partner Program. DataCore said SANvantage partners have signed up to work together to ease the problems of multi-vendor storage deployments. The first to join DataCore's Program include ATTO Technology, Emulex Corp., Eurologic Systems, ExaDrive Networks, Fujitsu Softek, Inrange Technologies, Interphase Corp., JNI Corp., LSI Logic Storage Systems, McData, MTI Technology Corp., Nishan Systems, QLogic Corp., SAN Valley Systems, Troika Networks and Vixel Corp. The SANvantage Technical Partner Program is designed to bring together industry leaders who support delivering interoperable, open systems SAN technology to joint customers. SANvantage partners combine their product offerings with DataCore's SANsymphony to create a 'Powered by DataCore' storage virtualization solution.

Imation expands SLR tape offerings for IBM servers
Imation Corp., Oakdale, Minn., announced IBM would begin shipping SLR100 100G Byte and 10G Byte tape cartridges, compatible with the SLR100 tape drive and SLR100 Autoloader that are compatible with IBM eServer products for mid-market customers. The deal is an extension of Imation?s OEM relationship with IBM. Imation co-developed the SLR technology with Tandberg Data, and Imation estimates that more than 20 million SLR cartridges have been shipped in the industry. The SLR100 tape drive, based on QIC (quarter inch cartridge) technology, offers 100G Bytes of capacity and a 10M Byte/sec transfer rate. The new IBM Model 7329-308 SLR100 Autoloader integrates an SLR100 drive and eight tape cartridge magazines to provide up to 800G Bytes of unattended storage capacity with 2:1 data compression. The new autoloader is available as a standalone unit for attachment to iSeries and AS/400 servers.

TrueSAN gets IBM support
TrueSAN Networks Inc., San Jose, Calif., has contracted IBM Global Services to help deliver customer support and services for TrueSAN enterprise storage networking solutions. According to the agreement, TrueSAN will offer its customers access to IBM's installation services, onsite hardware support services, help desk and remote technical support services. The agreement combines TrueSAN's network storage solutions with support coverage from IBM Global Services, and will let TrueSAN focus vital resources on engineering storage technologies, according to the company.

Quantum|ATL signs distribution agreement for China
Quantum|ATL, a subsidiary of Quantum Corp., Irvine, Calif., has entered an agreement with Dynamic Technology International Ltd. to serve as a master distributor in China for Quantum|ATL products. As part of the agreement, Dynamic Technology has ordered a full range of storage library solutions from Quantum|ATL valued at $300,000 USD. Dynamic Technology will resell to end users and other resellers the Quantum|ATL PowerStor L200/L500, P1000 and M1500 enterprise-class libraries. Quantum|ATL recently restructured and expanded its Asia Pacific sales organization and recruited Dennis Li as managing director for Asia, which includes China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and Southeast Asia.

Advanced MicroSensors ships tape head components for Benchmark
Advanced MicroSensors Inc., (AMS), Shrewsbury, Mass., a supplier of Micro-ElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS) related products and magneto-resistive (MR) tape heads, has successfully completed qualification and is shipping MR tape heads to Benchmark Storage Innovations Inc., for its recently announced ValuSmart Tape 80 half-high DLT tape drive. AMS, a developer and manufacturer of advanced thin-film components, and its strategic partner, Lafe Technology Ltd., who provides post wafer processing, assembly and packaging, are collaborating to produce MR tape heads to support Benchmark's tape drive business. The ValuSmart Tape 80 features DLT technology's first half-high, 5.25 inch form factor and offers 80G Bytes of compressed capacity and a 6M Bytes/second compressed transfer rate.
