Adaptec connects with two new VPs, CFO

Adaptec, Inc., has rearranged its upper management team with the appointments of Max Steinhardt as vice president and general manager of Storage Networking, Mike Sullivan as vice president of engineering for the Storage Solutions group, and David A. Young as its new chief financial officer. Steinhardt will be responsible for spearheading the company's efforts in establishing a market leadership position in the areas of Fibre Channel, EtherStorage, Infiniband and storage management software. Sullivan, who joins Adaptec from Data General, a unit of EMC Corp., will be based at Adaptec's Nashua, N.H., facility, where he'll head up the company's engineering activities for the creation, design, development, and enhancement of Adaptec's Storage Solutions. While Young comes to Adaptec from Datum, Inc., an Irvine, Calif.-based synchronization solutions company, where he served most recently as vice president and CFO.

BakBone is Northward bound

DataCore Software Corp., has expanded its worldwide operations for the fourth time this year, with offices in Montreal and Toronto. The company also named John Perring, a 25-year veteran of the technology industry, to manage all Canadian operations for DataCore. Perring was most recently at Hitachi Data Systems, where he launched the PC division.

WorldStor expands advisory board

WorldStor, Inc., an upstart storage services provider (SSP), announced the addition of four members to their Corporate Advisory Board. Joining the board are: Admiral William O. Studeman (Ret.), former director of the National Security Agency; Mark Mendes, Chief Operating Officer of Net2000, Inc.; William G. Tobin, a Managing Director of the Washington D.C. office of Korn/Ferry International; and Charles Battaglia, vice president of Federal Operations for Hill Solutions, a Wayne, Pennsylvania-based consulting firm. .

BitMicro grabs former Vertias VP

Solid-state disk, flash disk, and network storage solutions developer BitMicro Networks, Inc., announced the appointment of David R. Hallmen, former VP for Business Development of Veritas Software, to its Board of Directors. While at Veritas, Hallmen was responsible for merger and acquisition activities, technology licensing, business divestitures as well as in the implementation of strategic investment initiatives. He also currently serves on the Board of Directors for Knosys, Inc., a business intelligence software developer.

In charge of the Americas

Vixel Corp. has appointed former StorageTek VP, Joseph Colgate, to the position of Vice President, Sales, the Americas. In his new capacity, Colgate will bear overall responsibility for Vixel's North and South American OEM, reseller and distributor sales initiatives. Vixel says that this new appointment completes the restructuring of its worldwide sales organization, which is now comprised of three sales regions, the Americas, Asia Pacific, and Europe, Middle East and Africa.
