Hifn adds DR compression to Microsoft DPM
Hifn's Express disaster recovery cards have been certified for use with Microsoft's Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2007. This is the first data reduction feature Microsoft has certified for DPM. The cards will be available in the third quarter in two models – the DR 655, a half-height card with up to 600 MBps throughput and an MSRP of $2,395, and the DR 1055, with up to 1 GBps throughput and an MSRP of $3,395.

Fujitsu, ONStor team up for NAS
Fujitsu Computer Systems will combine ONStor's Bobcat NAS gateways with its Eternus Fibre Channel disk arrays based on a new partnership agreement. Previously, Fujitsu had been working with NetApp for NAS functionality, but Fujitsu executives said the two companies had become too competitive.

EMC has added new software that allows users to automatically restart host mainframe systems and disk arrays in the event of an outage. EMC Geographically Dispersed Disaster Restart (EMC GDDR) software for Symmetrix DMX customers with two-site or three-site mainframe configurations is available today.

Adaptec launches entry-level RAID controllers
Adaptec launched a new line of entry-level Unified Serial RAID controllers. The new low-profile Series 2 RAID controllers are built on the same Adaptec RAID-on-Chip (ROC) architecture as its Series 5 RAID controllers. The new product line consists of three models: the Adaptec RAID 2405 Kit, priced at $250 with four internal ports; the Adaptec 2405 Single, priced at $225 with four internal ports, and the Adaptec 2045 Single, priced at $250. All the cards will be shipping by May 30, 2008.

Citrix integrates with DataCore
DataCore's storage virtualization software has been qualified for use with version 4.1 of Citrix's XenServer server virtualization software.

Iron Mountain expands in Colorado through acquisition
Iron Mountain acquired DocuVault Group, a Denver-based paper records management and information destruction company. The move is intended to bolster Iron Mountain's presence in Denver and Colorado Springs. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
