Symantec, Microsoft settle Veritas lawsuit
Microsoft and Symantec have agreed to cooperate when it comes to volume management IP within the Windows Vista operating system. Veritas had licensed its volume manager to Microsoft under a 1996 agreement. Ten years later, after acquiring Veritas, Symantec filed suit against Microsoft, saying it had overstepped its bounds. The companies have worked out a new arrangement and filed documents to dismiss the suit, but so far haven't publicly disclosed any details of the new deal.

EMC ships consumer NAS storage to China
EMC's Lifeline consumer NAS box is now available in China, dubbed StorageCredenza. The product will offer up to 4 TB capacity to home users looking to store movies, digital music and photos. Digital China and CEC CoreCast have been appointed as the distributors for EMC StorageCredenza in China.

Google's Message Discovery email archiving SaaS, based on its acquisition of Postini, has been made generally available with Google Apps Premier edition.

DNF, Intransa ship IP video storage
DNF Security introduced its Falcon series of entry-level and midrange integrated camera management servers, which offer RAID-protected storage in an all-in-one system. Eleven new models are now available, with capacities ranging from 2 TB to 40 TB, starting at $2,271.

Intransa announced a Video Storage Administrator (VSA) toolset, the EdgeBlock M12 edge-storage recording platform and other offerings that support the new M12 module. The products are available immediately. VSA will be included with Intransa's StorManager software going forward, and pricing was not disclosed for the M12 array.

C2C integrates archive search with Microsoft, Google
C2C added Archive Search Services to its Archive One email archiving software. The new feature adds a federated search provider, which allows existing search engines to pass search queries onto the archive server and display its results.

NetEx offers sync on demand
NetEx announced that its HyperIP appliance will throttle bandwidth for the initial replication of data to a secondary site. This new feature follows a similar capability introduced earlier this year that opens up bandwidth for large restores.

Mellanox delivers first 40 Gbps InfiniBand adapters
Mellanox Technologies launched the dual-port ConnectX IB 40 Gbps InfiniBand HCA. The products deliver up to 6460 MBps bidirectional MPI application bandwidth with latencies of less than 1 microsecond.

Spectra Logic introduces Transcale T200
Spectra Logic is now shipping the Spectra T200 tape library, the newest member of the T-series family that offers a direct upgrade path to the larger T380, T680 and the enterprise T950 models.

Wowza optimizes Flash video for Riverbed
Wowza Media's Wowza media server is now available to run on Riverbed's RiOS Services Platform partitions on Riverbed Steelhead appliances.

BridgeHead migrates files to ProStor
BridgeHead Software announced immediate availability and channel support of its FileStore Data Migrator for ProStor Systems' InfiniVault archive appliance.

Alacritech accelerators included in Windows Server 2008
Alacritech announced Microsoft will support Alacritech's Accelerator Cards in the newest version of its server operating system, Windows Server 2008.
