Dispelling myths: WAFS and remote backup
Wide area network (WAN) clustering is often referred to high availability clustering, geoclustering, or remote clustering. Clustering is the use of multiple computers, multiple storage devices, and redundant interconnections, to form what appears to users as a single highly available system. The benefits of WAN clustering are the same as traditional clustering, however implementing clustering over a distance via a WAN adds a level of complexity and introduces a number of things to consider.

Some of the topics covered in this podcast include:

  • Products in the market today
  • What to consider before making a purchase
  • Types of WAN clustering -- active/active, active/passive
  • How replication and mirroring tie in to WAN clustering for disaster recovery
  • Recovery time objective and failover considerations
  • Download "WAN clustering for disaster recovery".
