Brocade ships 10,000th director
Brocade Communications Systems Inc. announced that it has shipped 10,000 director switches since 2002. Record shipments of directors, including its 4 Gbps FC switch, the SilkWorm 48000, contributed to substantial growth in the company's fiscal first quarter.

Brocade attributed adoption of its 4 Gbps SAN switches and directors to the availability of 4 Gbps host bus adapters and storage arrays ramping up in 2006. In a recently published report, Dell'Oro Group predicted that sales of 4 Gbps switches will grow five-fold to well over $1 billion in 2006.
