BMC resells XOsoft
XOsoft announced an alliance with BMC Software Inc. in which BMC will integrate XOsoft's replication into its SQL-BackTrack product. BMC will also integrate XOsoft's WANSync remote replication software. The combined offering will be targeted to application and file servers on both the Windows and Unix platforms. It will be generally available later this quarter, and will be sold directly by the BMC Software sales force and through BMC Software's distribution network.

Logicalis launches EMC-based e-mail archiving
Storage integrator Logicalis Inc. announced it is offering an e-mail archiving product based on EMC's Centera content-addressed storage system and EMC EmailXtender, EMC EmailXaminer and EMC DiskXtender storage management software.

Partners announce open source e-mail archiving
Alfresco Software Inc. announced that it has partnered with Inovox to deliver open source e-mail archiving. The product, developed by Inovox, supports Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes, Postfix, Sendmail and Kolab allowing e-mail to be archived into Alfresco. The e-mail monitoring operates as a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol proxy and uses Alfresco's Web Service interface to store the e-mails and all of their attachments. Alfresco also offers the option of transforming e-mails into a different format, and e-mails and attachments can be automatically categorized, and full text indexed with metadata extracted.

QLogic boasts 4 Gb performance
QLogic Corp. announced testing results for its new SANblade Pro 2440 and 2460 enterprise 4 Gb host bus adapters (HBA). Based on independent side-by-side testing, the SANblade Pro 2440 Series HBA achieved 202,000 IOPS read performance and 150% faster write performance than the enterprise-class HBA tested from the primary competitor. The high-end SANblade Pro 2460 Series HBA achieved 304,000 IOPS.

Emulex ships 10M ports
Emulex announced that it has shipped the 10 millionth InSpeed embedded storage switch port. Emulex's InSpeed products, which began shipping in May 2002, have secured embedded design wins with eight of the top 10 storage providers, and is now shipping at over two times the rate of all Fibre Channel fabric switch ports from all vendors combined, according to a press release by Emulex.

Bakbone announces Netvault 7.4
BakBone Software announced the availability of NetVault Backup version 7.4. This version will work with NetVault's Report Manager software to incorporate storage reporting, backup and file system monitoring. It adds data protection support for VMware ESX Servers, and offers command-line interface tools to enable script-based client management and job definition control for more automated deployments. NetVault Backup 7.4 Workgroup package for Intel-based systems begins at $1,195.

DSG Storage integrates Chelsio adapters
Chelsio Communications Inc. and IP storage integrator DSG Storage Inc. (DSG), announced an OEM relationship under which DSG is offering Chelsio's T204 quad-port Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) and T210 10 GigE TCP/IP offload engine/iSCSI acceleration adapters as embedded components of its upcoming storage systems. These products will begin shipping in the second quarter of 2006.

Cloverleaf, NetApp complete interop testing
Cloverleaf Communications and Network Appliance (NetApp) announced the completion of interoperability testing between Cloverleaf's Intelligent Storage Networking system and the NetApp FAS200, FAS3000 and FAS900 unified storage systems supporting NAS, SAN and iSCSI.

DataDirect qualifies with OnStor
DataDirect Networks Inc. announced that its Silicon Storage Appliance (S2A) products have been certified for use with OnStor's 2280 NAS gateways.

Ontrack launches online service
Ontrack Data Recovery announced the release of Ontrack Online, which provides customers with progress updates on its data recovery service. Ontrack Online is available now for every recovery job in the U.S., Canada and Australia at no additional cost.
