EMC adds snapshot feature to RepliStor
EMC Corp. has upgraded its Windows file server replication product, RepliStor, to support Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service. RepliStor 6.1 can take up to eight snapshots a day of the file server being replicated. Previously, the product replicated byte-for-byte from server A to server B. In other words, if you accidentally deleted a file in server A, the mistake would be automatically replicated in server B with no ability to go back in time and recover the data. The snapshot feature takes a point-in-time copy of the data enabling more granular data recovery. RepliStor 6.1 also provides recovery of Microsoft Exchange servers. The software will be available in the fourth quarter for $1,650 per server.
