OnStor partners with log management firm
OnStor Inc. and LogLogic Inc. will integrate their respective NAS gateway and log management appliances for compliance purposes. Legal regulations, such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, require companies to not only protect corporate and customer information but also to retain log data -- detailed information about activities from devices such as firewalls, routers, virtual private networks and servers that provide an in-depth look at real-time network activity for up to seven years. The OnStor/LogLogic joint offering enables the collecting, analyzing and long-term archiving of network log data to the customers' storage of choice, the companies said.
EMC upgrades Documentum, resells NetEx
EMC Documentum eRoom Enterprise 7.3 provides automated "dashboard" capabilities for increased visibility across multiple active project workspaces allowing groups to build dynamic, team-based applications, according to EMC. In addition, content created or changed in the EMC Documentum Content Server can be automatically synchronized in a new Linked Folder that notifies project teams of new content. New security features provide selective access to data table records.
Separately, EMC announced that it will resell NetEx Inc.'s HyperIP Data Replication Optimizer appliance through the EMC Select Program.
HP slots Emulex FC HBAs into BladeSystem
Hewlett-Packard Co. (HP) and component maker Emulex Corp. have entered into an OEM agreement that will integrate Emulex's 2 Gbps Fibre Channel (FC) host bus adapter (HBA) with HP BladeSystem servers. According to Michael Smith, executive vice president of worldwide marketing for Emulex, nearly half of the server blades are attached to FC SANs. "We expect strong user demand right out of the gate," he said.
3Par offers bare-metal restore for Solaris
3Par Data Inc. provides bare-metal provisioning for Solaris-based servers as its newest feature for simplifying Solaris deployments. Built upon 3Par Virtual Copy and 3Par InServ Storage Servers, the company's bare-metal provisioning enables users to deploy Solaris-based servers more rapidly, the company said.
SGI adds Brocade 4 Gbps switches
Brocade Inc. announced that Silicon Graphics (SGI) has added its 4 Gbps director and entry-level switches to its portfolio.
Rackable Systems OEMs IBrix
Rackable Systems, provider of server and storage bundles will OEM IBrix Inc's parallel file system and sell it with its SAN or iSCSI-attached storage.
