EMC adds security startups to channel program
Despite the recent acquisition of encryption maker Decru Inc. by rival Network Appliance Inc., EMC will resell the startup's security appliance, according to an announcement today. EMC will also include the CryptoStor FC storage security appliance from NeoScale Systems Inc. and CiperOptics Inc.'s IPSec appliances on its price list under the EMC Select channel program.
Barbara Nelson, CEO and chairman of NeoScale said EMC's inclusion of Decru wasn't a surprise. "They want a broad security solution and to be sure they have product coverage … We don't provide IP-based security but Decru does, our sweet spot is the SAN environment."
NEC selects Emulex InSpeed
Emulex Corp. announced that NEC Corp. has integrated its InSpeed switches into its new iStorage S4900 enterprise arrays. Using InSpeed, NEC will create an "SBOD [switched bunch of disks] application" with 2 Gbps switched connectivity to each individual disk drive within back-end storage systems.
SBE acquires PyX
IP networker SBE Inc. announced that it has completed its acquisition of privately held iSCSI software maker PyX Technologies Inc. The acquisition has also prompted the creation of a new storage business unit at SBE, to be headed by Greg Yamamoto, erstwhile CEO of PyX.
Revinetix introduces DR product
Revinetix announced the release yesterday of a new series of disk-based RAID-5 network backup appliances aimed at small and midsized businesses called Sentio. The disk-based appliance that bundles software and removable SATA disks for disaster recovery purposes.
FalconStor VTL to support Solaris 10
FalconStor Software Inc. announced today that its Virtual Tape Library (VTL) software will support Sun Microsystems Inc.'s Solaris 10 operating system.
OnStor supplies NAS to industrial distributor
Industrial distributor DXP Enterprises Inc. has implemented the OnStor Inc. Bobcat NAS gateway to expand its existing SAN, the companies announced today. DXP required additional capacity on its SAN because of a new digital document management system and a growing SQL database. OnStor's NAS gateway allowed DXP to reuse much of its existing storage, and to consolidate both block- and file-level data into a single storage environment. DXP also implemented disk-to-disk data replication with OnStor's Data Mirror software.
