NetApp, Decru partner on credit card security
Network Appliance Inc (NetApp) and Decru Inc unveiled a joint offering to enable secure storage of credit card data and to support compliance with new mandatory Payment Card Industry security standards. The CardVault offering features Decru DataFort storage security appliances and Client Security Module, integrated with NetApp data protection, regulatory compliance and data management software to provide an integrated product for secure processing and storage of credit card data.

FalconStor iSCSI server runs on all Windows platforms
FalconStor Software Inc. announced that the next generation of its iSCSI Storage Server software solution, initially developed for Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003, is now available on all Microsoft Windows Server 2003 platforms. This means users can deploy iSCSI storage services using their existing Windows servers.

Avamar replaces CEO
Avamar Technologies Inc. has hired Edward J. Walsh as the company's new CEO, replacing Kevin Daly who will continue as an advisor to the company. Walsh brings expertise in sales, marketing and alliances in contrast to Daly's more technical background.

Prior to Avamar, Walsh was vice president of sales, marketing and alliances at CNT. Prior to CNT, he was vice president of field operations and co-founder at Articulent, a systems integrator and consulting company focused on data management solutions. Articulent was acquired by CNT in 2001. Prior to that Walsh was with EMC.

NetApp supports Microsoft SQL Server 2005
NetApp announced that its data management software SnapManager 2.0 for SQL Server supports the upcoming release of Microsoft SQL Server 2005. NetApp said its SnapManager software, used with NetApp Fibre Channel and IP SAN products, reduces the administrative overhead of database backups, provides instant recovery for databases of any size and automates the process of migrating SQL Server databases.

BakBone supports Mac OS Tiger
BakBone Software Inc. announced a suite of software for Mac OS X Server v10.4 code-named Tiger. Built on NetVault for Mac OS X, the product family offers server-level Mac OS X support along with a new native interface. The NetVault product suite is interoperable with Apple's Xserve G5, Xserve RAID, and Xsan product lines.

NSI Software centralizes management
NSI Software Inc. announced product enhancements to its backup software Double-Take, including the introduction of EnterpriseView Server Groups. This feature enables system administrators to organize, monitor and manage hundreds of Double-Take servers across the enterprise -- and across the globe -- at a single glance. The company said the management console looks much like Windows Explorer, and provides the ability to group servers in a logical hierarchy. A view of the entire enterprise can be structured according to business needs, such as geography, branch, application or other subdivisions -- regardless of actual network or active directory design.

Iomega REV drive finds OEM
Iomega Corp. announced an OEM and joint technology development agreement with Thomson Grass Valley to integrate the Iomega REV drive and removable hard disk media into Grass Valley products aimed at the professional audio and video industry.

Under the agreement, Grass Valley will integrate Iomega REV removable hard disk technology into Grass Valley's ProLine of Professional audio/video products. The first of these products to feature Iomega REV built-in drives is the Grass Valley Turbo intelligent digital disk recorder, which was announced in May. Iomega and Grass Valley will also work to develop REV technologies for a broader set of applications.
