Acopia adds server to switch line
Acopia Networks Inc. announced the addition of a server variant of its ARX file virtualization switch family, called the ARX500. It reduces the form factor of the switch to lower the price. It supports all the same features as the switches, including global namespace, online file migration, tiered storage, capacity balancing, load balancing, data replication and remote data distribution capabilities. The ARX6000 is 13U modular switch that supports 2 gigabytes per second and up to a 1 billion files; the ARX1000 is a 2U fixed-size switch that supports 400 megabytes per second (MBps) and 300 million files while the ARX500 is a 1U server, that supports 100 MBps and 120 million files. The list price for the ARX500 is $24,995, and the product will be available from July, 2005.

Zetta signs Japanese reseller
Continuous data protection provider, Zetta Systems Inc. has signed an exclusive, three-year distribution agreement with NS-ELEX to sell its storage appliances into the Japanese marketplace.

Broadcom unveils upgradeable RAID controller card
Broadcom Corp. unveiled a new entry-level SATA RAID controller card family that provides a software upgrade model for accessing new features and functionality. This licensed key feature enables the move from an entry-level RAID feature set (supporting RAID-0, RAID-1 and RAID-10) to an advanced, enterprise-class RAID feature set (supporting RAID-5 and RAID-50) providing a simple upgrade path to advanced RAID functionality.

Exabyte picks up LTO-3
Exabyte Corp. announced the availability of two tape libraries featuring IBM's LTO-3 tape drives, the 221L Plus and 110L Plus.

Arkeia supports Red Hat Linux 4
Arkeia Corp. announced Red Hat Ready certification of its network backup software, which now supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 environments for x86 platforms. As a member of the Red Hat Ready Partner program, Arkeia has added support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 to its existing product line, which includes support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 and 3.
