IDC: iSCSI growth rockets
The latest quarterly storage numbers from International Data Corp. show tremendous momentum in iSCSI. The market showed a 32% revenue growth over last quarter. In 2003, worldwide iSCSI revenue amounted to $18 million. In 2004 this soared to $113 million. Network Appliance Inc. continues to lead the market with a 38.9% share, followed by EMC with a 25.6% share. The other noteworthy change this quarter: EMC regained its lead in worldwide revenue for all external disk storage systems, overtaking Hewlett-Packard Co. (HP). When HP merged with Compaq, it held the lead for a couple of years, but EMC has pulled it back.

Maxtor names compliance officer
Maxtor Corp. announced that it has appointed Franziska Hanreich, 48, as director of channel compliance for the company's worldwide distribution channel. Hanreich will work with Maxtor's sales and marketing departments and the company's auditors to ensure best channel practices. Hanreich joined Maxtor in 1996 and has served as director of financial planning and director of business planning.

Quantum adds to board of directors
Quantum Corp. announced that John Partridge, president and CEO of Inovant LLC, a Visa Solutions Co., has been appointed to Quantum's board of directors. Partridge has over 25 years of management and operational experience and has held a number of senior positions in information technology. In addition to serving on Quantum's board of directors, Partridge also sits on the boards of Inovant and Delta Dental.

Abrevity signs reseller in the U.K.
Network file management software company Abrevity Inc. announced it has signed TBC Ltd., one of IBM's largest resellers in the U.K. TBC works in partnership with IT vendors to offer consulting, implementation and managed services, and will now offer Abrevity's FileBase Information Value Management software for file discovery and e-mail management. TBC's customers include Seiko, University of Oxford, Bank of America and RAC Motoring Services.
