StorageTek steps up services
StorageTek announced that it has realigned its global services organization into five areas: implementation and education services, data center services, storage assessment services, business continuity/disaster recovery services and remote managed storage services. StorageTek global services, which accounts for 44% of the company's total revenue, provide everything from planning to implementation of primary storage through archiving. Also, StorageTek announced a formal Storage Appraisal service program to help users better understand their costs and storage capacity requirements. StorageTek said it expects that mostly enterprise-level users will take advantage of its services.
Kashya, Xiotech team up for data replication
Kashya announced that Xiotech Corp. will use Kashya's data replication technology with its Magnitude 3D storage arrays to help companies replicate data remotely for disaster recovery. Kashya's data replication appliance, the KBX5000, does remote replication to multivendor environments. Xiotech's Magnitude array has been touted for its real-time provisioning and for being easy to use.
Iomega unveils mini USB drive
Iomega Corporation added a 2 GB model to its line of solid-state USB 2.0 drives: the new Iomega Mini 2GB USB 2.0 drive. The new drive is the size of a car key and includes Security Lock software for protecting data. It also features Iomega Active Disk technology, which enables portable applications to launch and run from the drive without installation on the host PC. Iomega Mini USB drives are also the only flash drives with a personalized window to help users keep track of the information stored on the drive, the company said.
