Storage Clips: LG Electronics picks DataCore's SANsymphony software

LG Electronics selects DataCore's SANsymphony software
Storage networking software company DataCore Software announced that global electronics company LG Electronics Inc. has implemented DataCore's SANsymphony software. LG Electronics is using SANsymphony to centralize the management of Hewlett-Packard and EMC storage devices under a scalable, virtualized pool. SANsymphony reportedly has also helped LG Electronics better support applications by allowing storage to be available 24x7. In related news, DataCore announced that NEC Soft Ltd. has started reselling a SANmelody software-based storage system named "MelodiousStor." NEC Soft has incorporated DataCore's disk server software technology into its product portfolio to address storage consolidation and backup, disaster recovery, auto-provisioning, replication and capacity expansion over SANs and LANs.

Tacit launches partners program
Tacit Networks, a provider of remote office IT solutions, announced the launch of its Worldwide Integrated Network (WIN) Partners Program. Through this network of users, Tacit Networks claims it will be able to offer faster access to and service of its Wide Area File Services (WAFS) products on all seven continents. Contributing to the early recruitment of the company's WIN Partners Program are Tacit Networks' base of Fortune 500 customers and its relationships with storage and networking vendors such as IBM, EMC and Microsoft.

Quantum reports growing sales of virtual tape
Quantum announced unit sales of its DX-Series Disk-based Backup Systems have nearly doubled over the first three quarters of this year compared to the previous year. The company also recently announced its third-quarter results in which it increased its DX-Series worldwide unit volume and shipped the highest number of virtual tape systems in a single quarter to date.

NetEx gets with the Veritas program
NetEx, a provider of data transport products, announced that it has joined the Veritas Enabled Program and has completed interoperability testing of NetEx HyperIP, a data transfer protocol for IP-based WANs, for use with Veritas Volume Replicator. The Veritas Enabled Program ensures products are joint-tested and validated to help users manage complex, heterogeneous storage environments. The program also claims to ease multi-vendor implementations and reduce costs through improved storage management.

Asigra to resell backup software
Asigra, a provider of backup and recovery software, announced that its Asigra Televaulting software is shipping in volume through a network of resellers across North America. Asigra's launch of the Assurance Reseller Program has attracted more than 30 channel partners interested in selling the Asigra Televaulting software either directly to their customers or as a storage service utility with recurring revenue based on the amount of data being managed.

Constant Data refreshes replication software
Constant Data, a provider of data availability storage software, released Version 4.0 of Constant Replicator, a real-time data availability storage software solution for Sun Solaris, Linux and Windows server platforms with True Cross-Platform technology. Constant Replicator 4.0 reportedly adds real-time data replication support for Windows servers along with unified data replication management for mixed server environments.
