Storage Clips: IBM and CNT make OEM deal

IBM and CNT make OEM deal
Storage networking vendor CNT today announced an OEM agreement with IBM for the sale and worldwide distribution of its UltraNet Multi-service Director (UMD). As part of this agreement, IBM will resell the UMD products under the TotalStorage brand. The UMD platform features the UltraScale architecture, which CNT said offers scalability up to and beyond 512 non-blocking ports at 4 Gbps speed and can upgrade as speeds and protocols evolve.

Dot Hill debuts switchless SAN
Dot Hill Systems Corp. today announced SANnet II SATA Switchless SAN for the Windows and Linux operating systems. The switchless SANs will be offered in one, two and three terabyte factory configured bundles and are available exclusively through resellers and distributors. Bundles include a SANnet II SATA storage system with single or redundant RAID controller and SANscape storage management software. The pre-configured Switchless SAN solutions are shipped with 4, 8 or 12 SATA drives providing capacities of 1.6 TB, 3.2 TB or 4.8 TB, respectively.

Tek-Tools rolls out compliance reporting tool
Tek-Tools Inc., a provider of storage/server/backup management software, today announced the availability of Profiler for Compliance Reporting, a customizable set of its Profiler Rx suite of reporting and management tools. Profiler Rx supports compliance reporting by functioning as an audit tool to examine an enterprise's data stores to groom data and establish policies for backup and archiving. According to Tek-Tools, it also generates customizable or off-the-shelf reports on the status and success of backups. Once generated, these reports cannot be altered to prove that retention and archive requirements are being met, according to the vendor.

Kashya DR product certified by Sun
Kashya, a manufacturer of data replication products, announced this week that it has received Solaris Ready Certification from Sun Microsystems Inc. Kashya's KBX5000, an enterprise-class disaster recovery product that offer data protection over long distances, achieved certification upon successful completion of stringent testing and verifying Kashya's system compatibility, interoperability, ease-of-installation, functionality, and network interoperability with Sun's Solaris operating system.
