Arkeia plugs into Lotus 6 for backup

Arkeia Corp., Carlsbad, Calif., announced the availability of a hot backup plug-in for the current version of Lotus 6 messaging and collaboration platform. Arkeia said businesses that rely on Lotus Notes/Domino servers to manage high volumes of data now can utilize Arkeia's software to provide a backup solution. Arkeia's backup solution for heterogeneous networks includes support for previous Lotus products with its version 5.1. Now, both Lotus v5 and v6 are supported for Linux, AIX, Solaris and Windows platforms. Additionally, Arkeia offers quick bare metal disaster recovery with an automatic server rebuild for Linux platforms in the event of hardware failure or catastrophic events, the company said. Prices start at $990 for Linux and Windows systems and $1,990 for Unix.

FalconStor adds antivirus scanner to management software

Software maker FalconStor Software Inc., Melville, N.Y.., has integrated antivirus scanning functionality into the company's IPStor software. FalconStor has added a layer of antivirus scanning capabilities from Trend Micro into its IPStor software.

Emulex completes testing with Brocade

Emulex Corp., Costa Mesa, Calif., a host bus adapter (HBAs) supplier, announced that its LightPulse LP9802 and LP982 HBAs have been verified by Brocade Communications Systems Inc. as interoperable with Brocade-based storage area networking (SAN) infrastructure in testing conducted through the Brocade Fabric Aware Program, an end-to-end interoperability initiative for SANs. The Emulex LP9802 and LP982 HBAs are the latest in Emulex's high-end product line, delivering 30% more I/O processing power than previous generations. The LP9802 and LP982 PCI-X HBAs are high Fibre Channel connectivity solutions for the enterprise and mid-range market segments are backwards compatible with existing 1G-bit/sec and 2G-bit/sec Fibre Channel PCI installations.

Troika bags $13 million

Troika Networks Inc., Westlake Village, Calif., raised $13M in its latest round of financing. Anthem Ventures Partners led the round, which included previous investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Dynafund Ventures, and Windward Ventures, as well as new investor Hamilton Apex Technology Ventures. Troika said the funds will allow it to capitalize on marketplace opportunities for its platform for accelerating network-based storage services. Troika's NSS Platform provides volume management, migration, mirroring, snapshots, copy services and asynchronous replication.

Tacit adds failover to caching line

Tacit Networks Inc., South Plainfield, N.J., a maker of wide area network (WAN)-based storage consolidation solutions, announced the availability of a failover add-on to its storage caching product line. The company said its Networks Storage Caching makes it possible to share files over WANs at near-LAN speeds. With the addition of the Tacit Cache Server failover option, service availability is guaranteed in the event of cache server failure by allowing automatic reroute of traffic to a standby cache server. In this way, critical data is neither lost nor delayed, the company said.
