FalconStor soars on Maxxan's hardware

, San Jose, Calif., and FalconStor Software Inc., Melville, N.Y., announced plans to deliver FalconStor's IPStor suite of storage management software on Maxxan's hardware platform. The integrated Maxxan Storage Appliance powered by FalconStor IPStor software will be offered in two forms, the SA100f and the SA200f, which leverage the embedded application card technology developed for Maxxan's MXV320 intelligent switch platform, the company said. According to Maxxan, the SA100f is a standalone system that can be deployed with any SAN infrastructure and is compatible with Fibre Channel switches from any vendor. The SA200f is a bladed version designed to occupy a slot in Maxxan's MXV320 SAN switch.

iQstor extends Fibre Channel partner program

Fibre Channel SAN specialist iQstor Networks Inc., Newbury Park, Calif., has expanded its worldwide channel partner program in advance of the company's iQ1000 Storage System release. The company said it has signed master reseller agreements to resell, service and support its line of integrated SAN solutions in the Asia Pacific market. The iQstor Channel Partner Program was designed for storage VARs, system integrators, and resellers with vertical market expertise in providing storage networking and computing solutions to small and midsized businesses, according to iQstor.

The Promise of ATA RAID

Promise Technology Inc., maker of ATA RAID data protection and storage solutions, introduced the UltraTrak RM15000 ATA RAID storage subsystem, a new addition to the UltraTrak family of storage solutions. The company said the RM15000 supports up to 15 off-the-shelf Ultra ATA drives for more than 3TB of RAID or JBOD storage in a 3U, rack-mountable system. Multiple UltraTrak systems can be "daisy-chained" for greater capacity.

LiveVault extends backup support to Linux, Solaris

Marlborough, Mass.-based LiveVault Corp. has boosted its Online Backup and Recovery Service to include support for the Linux and Solaris operating systems. LiveVault automatically backs-up a company's business data and moves it to an offsite electronic vault. The LiveVault Online Backup and Recovery Service for Linux and Solaris is available now through LiveVault distribution partners. Pricing is typically based on the amount of server data being protected, the company said.

Emulex strikes Lightning and Thunder

, Costa Mesa, Calif., announced that Hitachi Data Systems has expanded its qualification efforts with Emulex to include its PCI-X Fibre Channel HBAs spanning Solaris, Linux and Windows operating environments. Emulex said its LightPulse 2Gbps PCI-X and 2Gbps PCI family of Fibre Channel HBAs are now qualified for use with Hitachi Freedom Storage Lightning 9900 V Series and Thunder 9500 V Series of storage systems.
