Software startup reigns in experts for top tech spots
San Jose, Calif.-based Acirro Inc., an emerging startup in the storage management space, has tapped Quantum Corp., co-founder Joel N. Harrison as CTO and storage expert Marc Farley as an advisory board member. Harrison reports to Acirro President and CEO Jan Aggerbeck. Farley takes his board seat immediately. Aggerbeck said the pair of storage veterans will aid in the development of Acirro's storage products, which are aimed at solving the management problem associated with complex storage networks.
McData deals with TrueSAN for Fibre Channel management
TrueSAN Networks Inc., announced that McData Corp. will bring the Cloudbreak Storage Operating System to storage network infrastructures based on McData Fibre Channel Switches and Directors. TrueSAN's Cloudbreak is a network-based platform for managing heterogeneous storage networks. Cloudbreak is a software suite that combines storage virtualization, storage network and device management, storage resource management, business continuance applications, and policy management in an integrated platform. TidalWire rides the midrange wave with EMC and Brocade
TidalWire Inc., Westborough, Mass., has expanded its distribution partnerships with EMC Corp., and Brocade Communications Systems Inc., to attack the midrange storage market. Both relationships center on interconnect product requirements of midrange storage networking customers. Under the agreements, TidalWire will supply EMC Clariion resellers, integrators and service providers with EMC E-Lab Tested interconnect products, which include Fibre Channel host bus adapters from Emulex and QLogic as well as the Brocade SilkWorm 3200 Fabric Switch.TidalWire Inc.
I-Tech Corp., Eden Prairie, Minn., a maker of data storage testing products, has added a multi-protocol analyzer to its Satellite analyzer product family. The Satellite-32MP Analyzer is equipped with up to 64 dedicated processors to support cooperative analysis across multiple channels. I-Tech's analyzers offer hardware search capabilities, hardware indexing of trace data, and pre-filtering, which can be applied to extend the effective trace memory depth from 320M Bytes per channel to gigabytes per channel. Imation beefs up its professional services offering
Oakdale, Minn.-headquartered Imation Corp.,has entered into a strategic alliances between Imation's Storage Professional Services (SPS) group and Avnet Computer Marketing, an operating group of Avnet Inc. The alliances will allow Avnet Computer Marketing to boost its portfolio of enterprise storage offerings for its value added resellers (VARs) and channel partners by tapping Imation to supply storage networking consulting expertise and testing services, Imation said. Imation SPS will offer a full lifecycle of storage consulting and testing services to Avnet, including storage assessment, design, implementation and custom training services.
