SAN Management Freedom
The growth in Storage Area Networks is expected to explode over the next few years.
According to an allSAN report, outside of the mainframe area, SANs are expected to account for 25% of external disk storage and approximately 50% of multi-user tape storage by 2003.
But, time and time again users say they are handcuffed with out the proper tools to manage SANs.
Start to remove the handcuffs with the keys provided by searchStorage. We have gathered many of the tools we have on the site that related to SAN management.
Begin by taking a look at two responses from searchStorage site experts Marc Farley and Christopher Poelker.
Marc Farley answers these questions:
Which tasks take the most time in managing a SAN and why? Why is the area of SAN management so different from other enterprise storage management functions (or is it)? What are some general guidelines/suggestions for someone trying to evaluate the various SAN management software offerings currently available?
Marc will also be participating in a live online event on policy-based management. Click here for more information and registration information.
Christopher Poelker's two part answer looks at which tasks take the most time in managing a SAN and why? and whether SAN management is different from other enterprise storage management functions.
