Sun adds Legato to support program

The Sun Vendor Integration Program (Sun VIP) has a new member in the form of Mountain View, Calif.-headquartered Legato Systems Inc. Sun Microsystems Inc., Santa Clara, Calif., said the agreement further enhances the ability of the SunVIP program to deliver customer service through prearranged vendor processes. Sun and Legato customers with valid mission critical support contracts using any Legato software product running on the Sun platform can now contact either company when they encounter an interoperability problem, the companies said in a joint press release. IBM NAS gets QLogic connections
IBM Corp., Somers, N.Y. and QLogic Corp., Aliso Viejo, Calif., announced that QLogic's SANblade 2200 Series Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs) are shipping on board IBM's TotalStorage Network Attached Storage (NAS) 200 and 300 products. Using QLogic's Fibre Channel connectivity, Big Blue said its NAS products can connect up to 90 disk drives and more than 3T Bytes of storage capacity. InfiniBand developer makes interface spec available
Austin, Texas, InfiniBand management software maker, Lane15 Software Inc., announced that it is making the Lane15 Channel Interface specification available to application developers and the InfiniBand product development community. Lane15 said the interface will allow developers to build native InfiniBand applications and is the next step in a complete InfiniBand interface strategy. The principal components of the Lane15 interface strategy include the Verbs Interface definition, the Channel Interface specification and an implementation of the Virtual Interface Provider Library (VIPL). In August 2001, Lane15 announced the availability of a proven Verbs Interface definition for integrating silicon with InfiniBand management software. The Verbs Interface is the bottom layer of the Lane15 software stack and interfaces with InfiniBand silicon devices. The Channel Interface is the upper layer that allows applications to access InfiniBand functionality without having to manage the details of the InfiniBand-specific protocols. Gadzoox lands switch in Compaq's SAN Array
Gadzoox Networks Inc., San Jose, Calif., announced that Compaq Computer Corp., is offering the Gadzoox 2Gb Open Fabric 6-port switch as an option in Compaq's new StorageWorks Modular SAN Array 1000 (MSA 1000). Customized to Compaq's specifications to meet the requirements of the entry-level to mid-range SAN customer, the embedded Fabric Switch 6 was developed by Gadzoox Networks and is based on the Company's Slingshot switch platform, the company said.Gadzoox Networks Inc. EVault unveils centralized backup capabilities
EVault Inc., Walnut Creek, Calif., a provider of online data backup and recovery services, is offering new technology for managing enterprise data backup and recovery operations remotely from one central location. EVault?s Remote Installer is one of several new technology enhancements recently debuted by the company. Other products include new support services for Solaris, Red Hat Linux and Windows operating systems, and faster backup capabilities.
