Conference to focus on storage management, disaster recovery issues

Storage Decision 2001 conference being held this week in Chicago will focus on a topic pushed to the top of technology agendas across the country: Disaster recovery.

The terrorist attacks on New York and Washington earlier this month have put disaster recovery front and center on the technology agenda of many businesses. Next week's Storage Decisions 2001 Conference, being held this week in Chicago, will attempt to address the topic.

According to Greg Strakosch, CEO of TechTarget, the company sponsoring the event, all of the speakers and panelists will be addressing the subject and fielding questions from users.

"The tragedy of Sept. 11 has caused many organizations to reflect upon their own abilities to cope with disaster, should it strike again," said Strakosch. "While we grieve for the victims and their families, we hope also to use this forum to provide some lessons and guidance for organizations that are looking at the role of storage in busines continuance and disaster recovery in a new light."

The three-day conference beginning Sept. 26, at the Hilton Chicago, will feature a range of storage experts, executives and industry analysts. In addition to disaster recovery, speakers and panelists will address topics such interoperability and standards battles, storage architectures and implementations and strategic advice for IT managers facing critical storage decisions in the coming year.

The CEOs of EMC, NetApps and StorageNetworks as well as top storage CTOs take part in on-stage interviews and panels conducted by searchStorage editorial staff and industry authorities along with audience questions.

The list of speakers includes independent experts like storage authors Jon William Toigo and Marc Farley, storage availability expert Marc Staimer, and industry analysts Nick Allen, Randy Kerns and Steve Duplessie.
