Veritas wrangles QLogic products in the Windows world
QLogic Corp., Aliso Viejo, Calif., announced its support for version 2.0 of Veritas SANPoint Control, storage area network (SAN) management software. SANPoint Control now provides SAN management for Microsoft Windows NT/2000 and centralized zoning capabilities for mixed fabrics consisting of switches from QLogic, Brocade, McData and others. SANPoint Control 2.0's new centralized zoning capabilities provide for securing paths between hosts and storage resources at the interconnect level, ensuring multiple hosts or applications cannot access or utilize resources that are not theirs to use, as defined by a storage administrator. Customers can now manage multiple switches from multiple vendors, from a centralized management interface using Veritas SANPoint Control's Zoning Wizard, which removes the requirement to use telnet commands or proprietary web-based solutions. QLogic has been bundling and reselling Veritas SANPoint Control with SANbox switches and QLogic Fibre Channel HBAs since October 2000. Version 2.0 of Veritas SANPoint Control is scheduled to be included with QLogic switches and HBAs within the next quarter.
